One pet family at a time.
Jodi Coleman is a certified feline master groomer, a former vet tech and a lifelong animal person who grooms dogs, cats and small pets alone in a calm room at her cabin, and show livestock out at the owner's farm. For the families she knows, she also picks up, looks in while you travel, and escorts pets by air. Pet groomer is the short version.
By appointment only. Jodi gives a ballpark estimate at drop-off, after she has looked at your pet.
Grooming, done the slow way.
NRV Pet Grooming works with one pet family at a time, giving each pet individual attention in a calm room. Full-service grooming for dogs and cats, plus the small-animal care most salons will not touch, and every appointment is yours alone.
Full-service dog grooming
Bath, dry, brush-out, trim or full haircut, nails, ears and the details, at the pace your dog needs. Puppies and anxious dogs get extra time, not a muzzle and a deadline.
Cat grooming by a specialist
Jodi is one of the few Certified Feline Master Groomers in Virginia. Baths, de-matting, lion cuts, nails and sanitary trims, handled by someone who reads cats and knows when to stop.
Nails and teeth for the little ones
Guinea pigs, hamsters and other small pets: nail trims and teeth filing done gently and quickly, so a ten-minute job stays a ten-minute job.
Fresh off the table.
A few of the regulars, and Jodi with some of them. Every one of them had the room to themselves.

More than grooming.
Jodi's work is with animals first. Most of these are for established clients, once she knows you and your pets. Ask her about any of them.
Livestock and 4-H show prep
From club lambs to bucking steers, Jodi gets 4-H and show animals clean, clipped and ring-ready for the kids who raise them. Livestock is groomed at your farm, not at the cabin.
PEMF sessions
PEMF, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, is a noninvasive session that uses a device to deliver gentle electromagnetic pulses to the body's tissues. It is used in animals and people to support comfort and recovery, and depending on the device and the condition it may help with pain, inflammation and healing. Research varies by use. Jodi offers it as complementary support alongside your veterinarian's care, not as a cure or a replacement for treatment.
Biofield therapy and Reiki
Jodi is a Biofield Therapist in Training. She is continuing her training in biofield therapy, including Reiki, with an emphasis on animals. It is a complementary wellness approach focused on relaxation and comfort, and her training is ongoing.
Pickup and delivery
Pickup and delivery for grooming are available for an additional fee. Please have your pet ready at the scheduled time, secured in a crate or carrier or on a leash. Jodi travels with the commercial crash-tested carriers her insurance requires.
Pet sitting
For existing grooming clients, as availability allows. Knowing your pet's personality and routine is what makes it work. The rate is $65 per calendar day, counting both the drop-off day and the pickup day, whatever the time. A Friday drop-off with a Sunday pickup is three days, $195. Text Jodi to talk about dates and your pet's needs.
Farm and in-home visits
Some animals are better groomed where they live. Once there is a relationship, Jodi will make the trip.
Farm sitting and check-ins
Away for a while? Jodi looks in on your animals and your place, and checks on tenants if you have them, so you can leave without worrying.
Flight nanny
Jodi personally escorts pets by air, across the country and overseas, from your door to theirs. Referral only.
Pricing and estimates.
Every pet is different, so grooming is priced for the animal in front of Jodi, not from a menu. Here is how that works, so there are no surprises.
What goes into the price
- Coat condition. Matting, tangles, heavy shedding, and coats that are not brushed and combed between visits take more work and cost more. Home care between appointments directly affects the price.
- Behavior and tolerance. Pets who need extra breaks, special handling or more time cost more to groom. As pets age, their patience, comfort and ability to stand for grooming can change, and the price can change with them.
- Time. The price covers the time it takes to groom your pet safely, at their pace.
- The cost of doing business. Prices may also change as supplies, equipment, utilities and other expenses go up.
Prices can change at any appointment
A price quoted or charged once does not guarantee the same price at a future visit. Each appointment is priced on its own.
Estimates at drop-off
Jodi is glad to look your pet over at drop-off and give a ballpark estimate before she begins. It is not a guaranteed final price, because some needs only show up during the groom.
If budget is a concern, please talk with her before she starts.
If you need a fixed price
Jodi's work puts individual attention, comfort and safe handling first. If you need a set price that cannot vary, another groomer may be a better fit for your budget.
How it works.
There is no online booking here on purpose. Jodi schedules every appointment herself, so each pet gets the room to itself.
"I was a vet tech for a long time. Most of the emergencies I saw came from chaos and distraction. If I ever had my own salon, we were not going to have that."JODI COLEMAN, OWNER AND GROOMER
Text Jodi
Tell her about your pet: what kind, how big, coat condition, and anything she should know. She will text back.
Get a time, then an estimate
Jodi sets the appointment by text. At drop-off she looks your pet over and gives a ballpark estimate before she begins, so a 30-pound dog and a 125-pound dog are never priced the same. First visits are at the salon.
Arrive a few minutes early
Give your pet a potty break outside, bring them in on a leash or in a carrier, and stay reachable. You will get a text when it is time to pick up.
Appointment policies.
Your appointment time is reserved for one pet family. These policies protect that, and they keep the day calm for every pet who comes through the door.
No walk-ins. Jodi is often at a client's farm or out on a pickup, so the door is not always open. Text to book.
Please arrive a few minutes early and give your pet a chance to go to the bathroom before coming into the cabin, even if they already went at home. It helps them settle and keeps the appointment on time. Please pick up after your pet. Accidents inside mean cleaning and sanitizing, which pushes the schedule back for everyone.
Ten minutes late or more, and the appointment has to be rescheduled. The missed-appointment fee equals the cost of your pet's regular groom, and it is due before another appointment can be booked.
When Jodi texts that your pet is ready, you have a 15-minute window to pick up. Please stay reasonably nearby and plan errands around it. Prompt pickup keeps the next family on time.
Please give at least 24 hours' notice. Openings are limited, and giving up a reserved appointment can mean waiting one to two months, or longer, for the next one. Jodi will offer the next available time, so think about your pet's grooming needs before changing the schedule.
Read the automated reminder carefully and reply "Y" to confirm. Appointment times can vary, so please do not rely on memory alone. If a reminder you expected does not arrive, let Jodi know right away. She is not notified when a reminder fails to reach you.
Keep your phone on while your pet is with Jodi, so she can reach you about any concerns or changes during the appointment.
Keep your pet leashed or in a carrier until Jodi is ready to take them, at the cabin and at your door for pickup and delivery. It keeps every animal safe.
Jodi does her best to stay on schedule, but some animals need extra patience, reassurance, breaks or careful handling. She will never rush a pet to stay on the clock. If running behind affects your appointment, she will let you know as soon as she can. Your pet's comfort and safety come first.
Available to existing grooming clients, subject to availability, at $65 per calendar day. Both the drop-off day and the pickup day count, whatever the time of day.
What the families say.
From Google reviews, in their own words.
"When she's there, she's the only dog getting groomed, which works the best for my nervous pup. You don't drop your dog off at dawn for them to wait in a crate til it's their turn. They get the full attention of the groomer while they're there and only stay for the time of their groom."
Nicki M., Molly's person for eight years"One of our cats is very uncooperative and Jodi always does her best to do as much as possible for him without overwhelming him. She treats every pet that comes through the door as if it were her own."
Kayla M."What really sets her apart is her commitment to constantly improving her skills. She regularly attends trade shows and grooming competitions to stay at the top of her field. You wouldn't want to trust your pet with anyone else."
Cody A."I've been taking Scout and Parker here since they were puppies. They have their summer cuts and their winter cuts, Jodi always takes into consideration the various lifestyles within each season. We are lifetime customers!"
Kaylee G."Not a lot of people have experience grooming an Australian Shepherd, so to say that she is amazing at what she does is an understatement. She will take care of your pets as if they're hers. She allows you to bring in your own products for your pet as well."
Stephanie S., Drax's person"They always remember everything about my Cleo girl. Cleo loves going to get groomed and she loves spending time with Jodi! Oh and of course, we love the complimentary bandanas!"

About Jodi
Jodi Coleman started with dogs in Ohio, trained in a grooming program, then found her calling with cats and became one of the first Certified Feline Master Groomers in Virginia through the National Cat Groomers Institute of America. She spent years as a veterinary technician before opening her own salon. Continuing education still matters to her: she travels for classes and competitions, which is why the salon closes now and then.
Nearly everyone who finds NRV Pet Grooming was sent by someone who already comes here.
